What is the probability of dry AMD morphing into the wet type for a man is his late 80s?
The chances of dry AMD (breakdown of tissues in the back of the eye) becoming wet AMD (when abnormal blood vessels grow in the back of the eye) increase over time, and they increase based on specific retinal findings such as drusen size (yellow deposits of lipids, or fatty proteins, under the retina) and pigmentary changes. Pigmentary changes are areas of darker pigment under the retina. Your retina specialist can tell you more based on your retinal exam.
