Will vision come back after damage from looking at the sun during a solar eclipse?
MAR 28, 2017
Question:
My left eye lens has been burned by viewing the solar eclipse. I cannot see properly through this eye now. Is there a treatment for this?
Answer:
A solar burn from an eclipse damages the very center of vision. Initially, there is a blurry or dark spot in the center of the vision and the vision may be distorted. In most patients, the vision will improve to some degree from the worst level over a period of weeks to months, but often there is some permanent loss of vision. Unfortunately, there is no treatment for this permanent loss of vision. It is important to never look directly into the sun particularly during an eclipse.
