Sleep Apnea and Glaucoma
DEC 11, 2013
Question:
Have you ever heard of sleep apnea causing glaucoma?
Answer:
Yes. The association between sleep apnea and glaucoma is somewhat controversial. However, anyone with glaucoma and particularly normal-tension glaucoma should have their sleep apnea treated as soon as possible. Theoretically, it is thought that sleep apnea may decrease the blood flow to the optic nerve, causing glaucoma-like damage.
