Should I use separate glasses, or bifocals for switching between TV and reading?

Question:
At age 90 my vision has improved to be able to watch TV without glasses, but I need my reading glasses for close-ups like computer screen, jigsaw puzzles or reading. Is it better to use separate glasses or bifocals?
Answer:
Since bifocals were invented over two centuries ago, persons who need different glasses powers to see clearly both in the distance and up close have faced the same question you ask. Two separate pairs of glasses versus one pair of bifocals is just a matter of personal preference. Neither bifocals nor separate pairs of glasses, if properly prescribed and manufactured, will damage your eyes
