Question:
Is it abnormal for a person to have two different size pupils?

Answer:
No, it is not, although approximately 12 percent of the population does have unequal pupils. If your pupils have been this way for a long time, it is probably safe to ignore, but always let any new physician examining you know in advance.  If you carry a medical alert such as for diabetes, allergies, etc., then include the anisocoria (medical term for unequal pupils) on the card, bracelet, or dogtag. If this is a new finding, have it evaluated by an ophthalmologist, as serious medical and neurological sometimes begin with this as an early sign.
