Ocular Rosacea Treatment Options
JUN 27, 2014
Question:
What are the latest treatment options for ocular rosacea? Anything being done in clinical trials?
Answer:
Ocular roseacea is treated with a variety of therapies including lid washes to remove excess oil from the eyelids, topical and oral antibiotics, topical steroids, and a new procedure to clear the oil from the glands (the LipiFlow Thermal Pulsation System procedure, is one example). As far as clinical studies are concerned, many centers and private practices participate in studies. You may discuss these with your ophthalmologist to see if you're a candidate for trials — knowing that the trial results are confidential until the studies are published.
