Question:

What's your opinion of the I-Brite eye whitening treatment? I'm considering it but it's very expensive.

Answer:

I had not previously heard of this treatment. It appears that this term is a registered trademark of one particular physician. Typically a surgical procedure to treat a disease is developed and tested in an experimental process that is sanctioned by an institutional review board. The results are then reported and published so the efficacy and also complications of the procedure can be evaluated. A scan of the peer reviewed literature does not yield any information on this technique. It also seems that the exact details of this procedure have not been published. Positive patient testimonials are no substitute for peer reviewed evaluation of safety and efficacy. That being said I am unable to comment on the safety or efficacy of this procedure.
