  • I have congenital cataracts and 3/60 vision. Is this right that such a scan wouldn't work on a patient such as myself?

    I went for an HRT3 eye scan today but during the scan they said they couldn't continue as it wasn't giving them the information they needed as my vision is too poor. I have congenital cataracts and 3/60 vision. Is this right that such a scan wouldn't work on a patient such as myself?

    There are many different imaging devices that help the ophthalmologist manage the variety of ocular conditions that may occur. Under certain circumstances a specific device may be unable to get a reliable reading. However, a particular imaging instrument is only one component the ophthalmologist—a physician specially trained to diagnose and treat eye diseases—uses for diagnosis and management. If a particular instrument is unable to get a reliable result, your ophthalmologist is trained to use other clinical parameters and test results to make an accurate diagnosis.
