Can an IOL Be Too Large?
JUN 19, 2014
Question:
I had cataract surgery, and because my eye size is "small" an ORA (ocular response analyzer) test was done. After the surgery my vision is now neither nearsighted or farsighted but in between. My cylindrical measurement was -0.25 before the IOL was implanted, and +0.75 afterward. I continue to experience discomfort and a feeling that there's "something in my eye." Could it be that the lens is too large for my small eye?
Answer:
You would never be able to feel the lens implant and you do not need to worry about its size because it fits inside the capsular bag which initially surrounded the cataract. The discomfort would be due to something else. Frequently, it is just some dryness on the outer eye surface, but your ophthalmologist can answer this question following your next eye examination.
