Early-stage Cataract and Glasses
FEB 21, 2014
Question:
Is it true that with early-stage cataracts, it will be difficult to fine tune my glasses prescription? I have been told that until the cataract is ready to be removed there is nothing that can be done. I hope that is not true.
Answer:
As cataracts form and develop, one of the earliest things to happen is for the glasses prescription to change. Therefore, many patients simply need to change their prescription glasses in order to continue to see adequately well. With further cataract progression, this will no longer help enough and that is the point in time when patients and their ophthalmologist will consider cataract surgery.
