Can corneal transplantation be successful if you’re diabetic?

Answer:
Yes, absolutely. If you require this procedure then diabetes should not stop you. Diabetics can sometimes have a larger inflammatory reaction to eye surgery. This can make rejection or graft failure more likely. However, your corneal surgeon will treat any inflammations aggressively with drops. Uncontrolled diabetes is a contraindication to any elective surgery so I suggest you have very good control of your diabetes before having corneal surgery.
