  • Can you get cosmetic eye whitening for a discolored or vein-streaked sclera?

    Question:

Do ophthalmologists recommend surgical cosmetic eye whitening for a discolored or vein-streaked sclera?

    Answer:

All eyes have veins on the surface and they follow the usually statistical curve of very few to many. For some who fall on the "many" side of that curve, they might worry about this density and want improvement. This can be done temporarily with drops that "get the red out" for pictures, etc. Longer term removal can be cosmetically done with laser treatment of the vessels if that is your goal. This is a personal decision and not a medical decision.
