Question:
Can an eye(s) be checked to see if the wrong lens was placed into the eye during cataract surgery?
Answer:
Unfortunately, the intraocular lens cannot be directly measured once inside the eye. However, refracting the eye for best vision by glasses should do the trick—if there is a residual correction it is what the lens did not correct. This is no way means that the lens was the wrong lens. Instrument measurements were taken of your eye and put in a computer program that helps choose the lens. However, thick cataracts, previous eye surgery, or scarring, can lessen the accuracy of the lens that was chosen for you.
