What are the added risk to cataract surgery from having glaucoma?

Question:
My ophthalmologist tells me that there is an added risk to cataract surgery because I also suffer from glaucoma. What is the risk?
Answer:
In some cases the iris can be poorly dilated and may require an extra step to enlarge the pupil to remove the cataract. In other cases of pseudoexfoliative glaucoma, there is an increased risk of the cataract becoming loose and falling to the back of the eye, requiring an additional surgery.
