How soon after surgery should you be seen by the ophthalmologist for post-op follow-up?

Question:
Could you please tell me if there is a standard of care for post-cataract surgery. More specifically, how soon after surgery should you be seen by the ophthalmologist for post-op follow-up?
Answer:
The term "standard of care" of a medical situation implies that there are set of criteria that must be followed or adhered to. More often than not, there is a range or scope of appropriate care which most doctors would follow in caring for their patients, but it might vary from one doctor to another and from one location to another.
Most ophthalmologists see their post cataract surgery patients on the day after the surgery. I am aware of a few ophthalmologists who see their post cataract surgery patients the same day as the surgery and not the day after the surgery.
