Question:
Is cataract surgery advisable with very dry eyes and allergies?
Answer:
Dry eye and allergy can possibly make the post-operative course after cataract surgery more difficult, but rarely are they so severe as to produce significant complications. Cataract surgery should be performed when a person's vision is impaired such that the things they want to do in life are being compromised, be that driving, reading, TV, etc. I suggest you see your ophthalmologist if you have dry eye or allergic eye disorder.
