Can a Macular Scar Spread to Both Eyes?
FEB 07, 2013
Question:
I had a macular scar in my right eye. Is there any possibility that it could spread to my other good eye?
Answer:
This would depend on the cause of the macular scar. Certain conditions (such as macular degeneration or ocular histoplasmosis) can result in one or both eyes being affected. A retina specialist (an ophthalmologist specializing in the light-sensitive tissue in the back of the eye) would be able to accurately assess the risk of your other eye being involved as well as discuss with you possible ways to reduce your chances of this happening.
