Can food or orange juice make my flashes go away?
JAN 14, 2015
Question:
I seem to get flashes in my peripheral vision when I am hungry. Drinking some OJ or eating food seems to relieve them in 10 to 20 minutes. Does the food have a real effect or is this just a coincidence?
Answer:
Flashes in your peripheral vision or "photopsias" can be caused by a variety of circumstances. It is conceivable that they are caused by low blood sugar or hypoglycemia, which is relieved by drinking orange juice or eating food. I would suggest that you see your primary care doctor and have your fasting blood sugar checked.
