Can Carotid Artery Blockage Disturb Vision?
APR 28, 2014
Question:
Can blockage in the carotid arteries (the two large veins that carry blood to the brain) cause temporary partial and total loss of vision in one eye?
Answer:
Yes, this is a serious concern. The carotid artery brings oxygenated blood to the structure of the head. If a clot develops in your arteries, it can lodge in the brain and cause a stroke or possibly lodge in the eye and bring about temporary or permanent loss of vision in the eye on the side of the blockage. This condition can be very serious and I strongly advise that you discuss your case with your ophthalmologist.
