After being told by many doctors that they cannot help with my retinitis pigmentosa, I have decided to try eye acupuncture. Can this be of any therapeutic value?
As with a number of Eastern treatments, the benefit of acupuncture in retinitis pigmentosa (or RP, a genetic disorder that causes a slow loss of vision) has been suggested but remains unproven. Last year, the National Institutes of Health funded a grant to study acupuncture treatment for RP, but results from this study have not been released.
