  • Can a Boil From Leg Spread to Eye?

    Question:

Is it possible to spread staph infection from a boil on the leg to the eye if one touches their eye after touching the boil?

    Answer:

This is extremely unlikely. A healthy eye with no recent injury or surgery is highly resistant to such infections. For instance, a facial pimple, which is a sort of micro-boil, is common on the face around the eyes and does not produce any increase in eye infections. Hopefully you can get good treatment for your boil but your eye is not at risk in this circumstance.
