Why do I have temporary broken glass appearance in my left eye?
SEP 08, 2023
Question:
For the second time this week, when I look through my left eye it's as if I am looking through broken glass. It last less than an hour. I am 45, farsighted, have lazy eyes, and have been wearing glasses for 40 years. I have been on the computer more than usual.
Answer:
Vision with the "broken glass" appearance that goes away completely, only to reoccur another time, is often a sign of an ocular migraine. These events are often, but not always, followed by headache and nausea. The "broken glass" appearance often begins small in one portion of the vision and gets larger and progresses throughout the entire vision and then leaves completely. I suggest you do an internet search of images for ocular migraine and see if those images look like what you are experiencing. I also suggest you see your ophthalmologist to make certain that nothing more sinister is occurring.
