Are Pre-IOL Measurements Taken With Contacts in Place?
MAR 12, 2014
Question:
Before cataract surgery, is the measurement for the IOL taken with the current contact lens in place or is it removed before measurement? Or are measurements taken with and without correction?
Answer:
There are many measurements that may be taken before cataract surgery but the most essential ones are the corneal curvature and length of the eye (axial length). The corneal curvature must be measured without a contact lens in place and typically that is also true of the axial length.
