Are floaters normal in children?
NOV 29, 2010
Question:
My daughter is 5 years old and has recently mentioned then complained about "spots" (floaters) in her eye. Is this uncommon in children and how concerned should I be?
Answer:
Spots in a young child's vision are occasionally reported. They can range from seeing dust in a beam of light to more serious ocular conditions. You should ask about any problem with vision for usual activities. In general, these symptoms should be evaluated by an ophthalmologist to exclude any serious eye conditions.
