  • Antibiotics Not Helping Eye Infection

    Question:

My husband has had an eye infection for several weeks now. He finally went to the doctor who was perplexed but prescribed Zithromax and antibiotic eye drops. He became very nauseated and switched over to Augmentin. The same thing happened so he is now only on eye drops which are not helping. Any ideas? This happened after we received a load of hay from another state.

    Answer:

If an arbitrary selection of antibiotics has not helped an infection in the eye or in any other location in the body, a “culture and sensitivity” test is needed. This will determine which microorganism is causing the infection, and it will determine which antimicrobial drug would be best to treat the infection by your ophthalmologist.
