Question:
I have a problem that happens only ever once in a while. I wear contacts and change them regularly and take them out every night. But sometimes like last night, I take them out, it seems like one is stuck to my eyeball and it feels like it just peels off a layer of my eye. Then of course the next day it stings, burns, waters. With contact in or out, it will do that for like a day. Then may not happen for a couple weeks. I have tried putting eye drops in my eye before taking contact out but doesn't seem to help. Is there anything you can suggest?

Answer:
Many conditions may cause these symptoms, so this is difficult to pinpoint a cause or treatment. It sounds as if your contacts are ill-fitting and perhaps too tight. Each night when your eye feels as if you "peel off a layer" of your eye, you probably do.   It is possible that there are other causes of these symptoms such as toxicity from cleaning and/or storage solutions. Or, your contacts may be drying out, causing superficial cells to adhere to the lens. There are several other potential causes, and I would urge you to consult the practitioner who fit your lenses.
